Foster, Emergency Shelter and Police Protective Custody Children

At On Eagle’s Wings Farm, we will open our doors to children in foster care, those in need of short-term placement, and even little ones who require emergency shelter through police protective custody. From newborn babies to teenagers, every child will be welcomed with safety, love, and stability during what is often one of the hardest moments of their lives.

The need is urgent. Across the Kansas City Metro, there is a significant shortage of foster and shelter beds. Far too often, children are forced to travel hours away—sometimes three hours or more—just to find a temporary place to stay. Our hope is to change that.

In the Main Home, we will provide short-term care for children who need immediate placement and stability. In addition, we will set apart two dedicated homes for long-term foster care, where children can grow in consistency, community, and love. Each space will offer not only a roof over their heads but also the warmth of a Christ-centered family environment—one that surrounds them with hope, care, and the assurance that they are not forgotten.

Teen Mothers

In the Main Home, we will also open our doors to at least one teenage mother—whether she is expecting or already caring for her baby. Both mother and child will be embraced in a loving, family-style support system where they are not only safe but deeply valued.

During their stay, young mothers will receive access to schooling, as well as home and life training skills designed to prepare them for independence and a healthy future in society. Their living space will be an apartment-style setting, offering privacy and dignity while still surrounded by the encouragement of a supportive Christian family environment.

After up to one year in the Main Home, these mothers will have the opportunity to transition into our city-based transitional home, where they can continue building stability, confidence, and hope as they step into the next chapter of their lives.

Sibling Groups

One of the most heartbreaking moments children face when entering custody is being separated from their brothers and sisters. Because most foster homes can only receive one or two children at a time, sibling groups are often split apart during a season when they need each other the most.

At On Eagle’s Wings Farm, we believe siblings should stay together. That’s why one of our homes will be dedicated specifically to welcoming sibling groups. In this space, brothers and sisters will not only remain side by side but will also experience the love, stability, and support of a Christ-centered family environment—helping them hold onto each other while they heal and grow.

At-Risk Youth

Sometimes families reach a breaking point. Parents feel overwhelmed, children act out of pain and confusion, and the home begins to unravel. In many cases, these struggles lead to children being placed into custody—not because the parents don’t love them, but because life has become too heavy and they feel out of options.

At On Eagle’s Wings Farm, we want to step in before that separation ever happens. One of our homes will be dedicated specifically to children who are facing serious struggles at home or in life and are at risk of entering the foster care system. Instead of being removed from their families entirely, these children will find a safe, supportive place where they can stabilize, heal, and be surrounded by Christian love.

Our hope is to provide a lifeline for families in crisis—a chance for parents and children alike to receive the support, counseling, and resources they need to restore stability and strengthen their bond. By offering this “bridge home,” we give families one more opportunity to find hope, healing, and restoration together before custody becomes the only option.

Youth Groups

We will create opportunities for youth—especially inner-city children and church youth groups—to step away from the noise of life and spend time at the farm for a retreat week or weekend. Designed for small groups of 5–10, these retreats will allow for deep relationships to form while providing a safe, Christ-centered environment.

During their stay, youth will have the chance to get “back to the basics” without electronics, spending time outdoors camping, horseback riding, and enjoying the beauty of creation. Through these activities, they will learn not only practical life skills but also timeless Christian principles that will strengthen their faith, character, and confidence.
